In the Arts section of the New York Times, Thursday, February 28, 2002:
"Advertising itself as a cross between "Real World" (the MTV reality show) and "Sex in the City," the series( "To Live and Date in New York") has...some sharp characters. Most original is Lauren, the lawyer taking a year off to pursue singing and interior design. She describes herself as a BAP, a Black American Princess, and she is fiercely funny in her denunciation of men."

In Newsday February 27, 2002:
"This is real ....These are not characters...What you see over the course of the series ("To Live and Date in New York") you really learn who these people really are...... What you see over the course of the series is Lauren's aspirations to be a singer, Lauren's aspirations of trying to pitch songs to a record company......she calls the city "the big roller coaster."

As featured in "Entertainment Weekly" magazine June 14, 2002 issue:
"Presented as a real life 'Sex in the City,' it's just as addictive as it's HBO inspiration" Lauren Lake is " an outspoken attorney and one of the more dignified ladies in the bunch."

The Detroit Free Press July 3, 2002:
"She's no cultural anthropologist like Carrie Bradshaw on "Sex in the City," but Lauren Lake knows a thing or two about dating.......British producers of "Single in the City" ....found in Lake a no-chaser Detroiter who fires off statements with the same boldness as Samantha, the witty character played by Kim Cattrell."
